Dear Jenny,
Did you know that Nectar has more than fifty different styles of journals in stock for adults and even children? Give your ramblings a beautiful place to live; choose from lined or unlined, spiral bound or wrapped in leather or whimsy, find the perfect journal to record the unfolding summer days ahead.
...It all started with the first sightings of tender green leaves on the trees and the crocus and daffodils timidly rising from their slumber in the earth. And then it happened-- nature exploding all around us with shameless color and the raucous of birdsong! Aaaah, I sigh, and just in time, for though the winter in the Hudson Valley can be peaceful, it is also long, slushy and gray after a while. And spring is so quintessentially beautiful here-- something to behold AND TO RECORD! Those close to me are aware how journaling has long been one of my closest allies. I once heard the following wise words, "Use everything in your life to create your art." But whether or not you consider your private musings art or mere catharsis, come to Nectar to find endless slates for inspiration. Like the journal below, just arrived and entitled FEARLESS...

ANYONE OUT THERE WANT TO JOIN ME FOR A...
TEA READING
??!
No divining of the future (although there may just be a few friendly witches in our midst!) just decadent, organic, unusually blended teas served up hot or cold and sipped while
enjoying writings about tea, inspired by tea, or that have a scene that includes at least one character drinking TEA! So far local writers whose submissions fit the bill are Leah Glennon, Susan Willson, Janna Cohen, and myself. We haven't set the date yet for the event, but we are thinking sometime in August... Please send submissions to: mail@nectarimports.com

Blessings for an adventure filled, inspired, and peaceful summer ahead, friends... And happy wedding Nesli and Guthrie!!
For all of you who have come to love our dear friend Neslihan, (affectionately known as "Nesli" to many who knew her at Nectar) my family is so excited to join her and her fiance for their wedding in Turkey! I will come back after two weeks with news from that ancient, extraordinary place, let you know if my teenage boys and baby boy alike found it fun, and do expect some new treasures and mementos from the market to brighten the store! And if you have been to Turkey yourself, please let me know if you have any suggestions for places to stay and enjoy. We leave June 14th, so email or call me soon! Many thanks!
May abundance and joy be yours!
Sincerely,

Fairtrade African Baskets...
Your purchases at Nectar contribute to many wonderful support services for our world neighbors...

|
We are presently placing our next order of gorgeous furniture from India! Contact us for special orders or requests. Architectural salvage including antique doors and columns, all kinds of furniture, and more. I should complete the order by the 1st week of June, so hurry to get your design wish granted!
Reclaimed Wood and Our Belief
At Nectar we pride ourselves on sourcing inventory that is Green as well as Fairtrade, so that each purchase has as little environmental impact as possible and/or supports wonderful community projects and cooperatives around the world. (Not to mention offers our clients items that are full of character and unique!) Though our furniture items are "Green", they are not Fairtrade, but many (not all) of our gifts and jewelry are. India has strict deforestation laws and they recycle everything possible. The main company we buy from has warehouses and yards full of old materials from buildings as well as old furniture that they transform and revive into things unique and beautiful... Nectar likes to keep our two stores fresh and lush with interesting new things.

Editor's Note
Please write and share your Nectar stories, send photos of purchases (especially furniture!) so friends can see how your items look in your environments, and send suggestions and feedback for our newsletter!
Thanks for helping to make Nectar so luscious! And the world...

Liam Skye Update!
And almost last but not least... Hard to believe but he's just about eight months! Here he is pictured with one of his favorite people, Emma, so of course he's so happy his second chin gets really excited. Liam is now crawling in earnest, none of that belly dragging Spiderman wanna-be stuff anymore. Yes he's a big boy , pulling himself up on everything because he wants to walk too! His two top teeth have cut through, and he's trying to birth the bottom ones, all while warding off the evils of his first cold. Well, that's because he had his first make-out session with his older girlfriend Pim (a month his elder, and so extraordinary he forgets he needs to take it slow, even though we've had "the talk" with him already), and his best friend (four hours younger) who was trying to move in on his girl. But that's a long complicated, seemingly inappropriate, and yet entirely innocent story of a day in the life of one small boy filled with wonder...
Goodbye Ganesha! One last word: "Goodbye" to our dear old jolly, enormous mascot who adorned the front of our store so beautifully. You have gone to a wonderful, loving home, where your gifts of abundance will continue to flow and be appreciated. Thanks for the reminder of impermanence. And just wait, Nectar friends, for the new surprise Welcoming Committee! See you soon!
