A tiny vision of our High Falls store ...

Step into Nectar’s spice colored rooms, and be transported to a place faraway and yet very familiar… A celebration of beauty, Nectar is a place that must be experienced, a place that ignites your senses.  Sip a cup of hand blended tea while you explore our 2 lush stores, one right across the street from the other, brimming with unusual items from every continent, as well as nearby: Nectar has also always showcased the dynamic work of Ulster County artisans and jewelers among the bounty of our world neighbors. A rare blend of home décor, art, imported furniture and architectural elements, children’s items, jewelry, tabletop wares, statuary, gifts, and tea, Nectar has something for everyone! Traditional pieces sit side by side with designs dreamed up or hand selected, utilizing reclaimed and recycled materials with little environmental impact. And many of our beautiful inspired items are Fair Trade, supporting women’s cooperatives and community projects in developing countries around the world, tree-planting initiatives, AIDS research and sustainable development while raising awareness about international trade.

We are also one of the best-kept designer secrets in the Hudson Valley for large-scale interior projects—just ask the Emerson Resort in Mt. Tremper! Nectar also offers Interior Decorating services for the home or workspace as well as a unique bridal registry.

The stores showcase much, much more than we are able to share with you on-line as of yet. Feel free to email us about items you might be looking for; we pride ourselves on our fun, enthusiastic customer service and extensive supplier reach!

☞  The six ladies who do it all!  We alone pack every box, answer every email, and wrap every present!

Jenny Wonderling, owner, visionary, writer, wanderlust designer

Born and raised in Manhattan in an artistic family who worked as stylists, painters, clothing designers, photographers and musicians, Jenny was coddled to create things of beauty from birth. After receiving a BA in Anthropology and French at NYU and helping to establish the TriBeCa landmark Bubby’s restaurant, Jenny moved to the Hudson Valley with her two sons in2001. She bought an 1860s farmhouse and tackled renovations with the help of family, friends and determination. Having personally sourced building materials and design elements that worked harmoniously with the original structures of her home— bridging past and present—she finally acknowledged her passion for design. It was then, with her love of culture, travel, writing, service, beauty, and caring for the earth and our world neighbors, that Nectar was born.  And it continues to effortlessly weave together those disparate parts of her. Between running a growing small business, interior decorating, and mothering her toddler and teenagers, Jenny steals time to practice yoga, travel the world, enjoy nature and write.

Bea Rue, sales & marketing manager, creative designer, dedicated aesthete

Studying Communications and Studio Art at NYU, Bea developed a passion for business, creative marketing, and all things beautiful. After a couple decades of living in NYC with a brief respite in Kauai, HI, she moved to the verdant Hudson Valley for a more organic NY life steeped in nature and consciousness. She joined the Nectar team in 2011 after an enchanted fortuitous visit to the store. Since then it’s been a winding journey of growing a small business, social entrepreneurship and hunting for things of beauty with cultural integrity. In her free time she loves crafting, scouring flea markets, laughing, photographing tablescapes, and sipping Pinot with Ella Fitzgerald.

Ashley Townsend, sales & customer service virtuoso, crafter extraordinaire

Ashley has always felt in awe by the human capacity to create beauty. A lover of hand made objects and the stories they tell, working at Nectar has allowed her to become intimately connected with such beautiful wares made locally and around the world. Inspired by the creative energy of Nectar and the beauty and bounty of the Hudson Valley, Ashley loves to create crafts and gifts of her own. On any given day, you can find Ashley sewing, gardening, practicing yoga, and romping through the woods. Ashley is happy to be a part of the Nectar team, inspiring change both locally and globally.

Nina Mayer, customer service guru, artist and curiosity collector

Traveling the world from a young age with her family, Nina's fascination with aesthetics, design and beauty started early. As an artist, her work crosses multiple mediums: from sculpture to photography and textile design. After finishing her undergraduate degree for fine arts in Chicago, Nina hopped around the country looking for a place to call home, until she found the Hudson Valley. As a part of the Nectar family, Nina is able to exercise and channel her creative energies, while helping to cultivate beauty, sustainability and sincere relationships in her community and beyond. When she's not working at Nectar, you can find Nina rummaging through antique stores for treasures, walking her rescue dog or working in her studio.

Anna Clem, in-house photographer, fine art creator

Anna Leigh Clem is a fine-art photographer working with still and moving imagery to portray her memories, dreams and impressions. While image making is her primary creative medium, Anna is a dedicated writer, having kept journals since her first attempts at penmanship. Although originating from the urban enclave of Hoboken, New Jersey, Anna prefers the greater natural world that she has found within the Hudson Valley, seeking peace between the trees. Since arriving at Nectar, Anna has experienced a refreshingly open environment and is inspired to explore other facets of her being. These uncharted waters are soon to be discovered, so she tells us.

Marie Doyon, saleswoman deluxe, media outreach liaison

An instinctive nester, Marie has always loved creating beautiful spaces. She is an avid yard saler, antique huntress, and DIY enthusiast (albeit an amateur in the arena of execution). She loves bold colors, natural materials, and timeworn pieces that speak of bygone years (a la Velveteen Rabbit). After getting a BA in English from Davidson College, Marie returned home to the Hudson Valley. The beautifully curated inventory at Nectar had her drooling from Day 1. When Marie isn’t at Nectar, she is either editing Country Wisdom News or painting her house bright colors. Working at Nectar gives Marie the perfect opportunity to hone her aesthetic, while learning and laughing with a team of strong, intelligent women.
